Season’s Change

Season’s Change

Who says Southern California doesn’t have seasons?! With summer behind us, it’s time to put those grovelers back on the rack and pick up a board that can handle what the Pacific Northwest might throw at us this year. Fall is quickly approaching, that means we are keeping our fingers crossed for combo swells, offshore winds, and light crowds. Personally, I love fall for many reasons, the air is just a bit colder, the crowds just a bit lighter, and the neoprene is just a bit thicker. The beaches are empty, the water temperature has dropped, and we are chomping at the bit for the first real West swell of the season.

Whether you fancy pulling out your ten-foot single fin and heading to Blackies for some classic sliding, or if grabbing your trusty step-up and chasing down some stormy peaks is more your vibe, fall in Newport has many different flavors for you to enjoy. With the changing season and an earlier sunset, you can expect a few more movie nights at The Board Club, and while you might not be able to surf until 8pm, that 5am dawn patrol is a wonderful option too. That second cup of coffee is calling your name, wake up and get out there!
